Weekend #3 Postponed

Hello Space City Family,

I pray that you are doing well and finding innovative ways to deal with the summer heat.  A couple of weeks ago I was working outside too long and allowed myself to get too hot.  I came inside and found myself following my dogs lead.  I discovered that lying down on a cool tile floor is absolutely AMAZING!  Of course it did freak my dogs out a little bit.

These are interesting times we find ourselves in today.  Covid19 has made a dramatic impact on our lives the last 6 months.  Two weeks ago the SCTD Board met to discuss the status of our fall weekends.  We discussed at length issues such as current camp guidelines that would only allow 85-90 people total, social distancing requirements, precautions to take to protect anyone who might be at risk, and how to handle someone who may get sick on the weekend.  We also discussed the logistics of how to conduct team meetings leading up to the weekend.  We asked everyone then to take one week to pray and seek God’s direction on the weekend.  We came to the conclusion that there were just too many challenges under the current requirements and our weekends would need to be remarkably different than a typical weekend.  Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I announce to you that we have POSTPONED SCTD #3 until the Spring of 2021.
There is some good news to share however.  Last month we held a Secuela at Walter Hall Park in League City.  We had over 60 people in attendance and it was an amazing time of worshipping, taking communion, and fellowshipping together.  We intend to host another Secuela this fall.  We will announce those details as soon as the venue and date are confirmed.

Please pray for our pastors, our churches, our government with tensions at an all time high heading into this election, for Rectors who will lead a weekend one full year later than we anticipated, and for the Board of SCTD.  I also encourage you to stay plugged into your Reunion Group and to gather together as often as you are able to walk closely with each other through these times. This pandemic is the exact reason why Reunion Groups were created:  to encourage each other, to pray together, and point each other towards a LIFE IN GRACE!!!  I love and miss all of you and I sincerely hope to see everyone at the Fall Secuela.

In Him,
Terry Hurd
