Sheryl York

Nominee for At Large Member

2025

I attended SCTD #2 in 2019 and have served every year ever since as a CCIA and Piety Rollista (#10), Dining CHA, Chapel CHA, IT CHA, Kitchen CHA and Head Prayer CHA (#8).  The community means a tremendous amount to not only myself but my family who also serve as One Body in Christ.

My husband and I attend Redeemer Church in Manvel and have been married for 19+ years. Over the past 25 years I have worked in the real estate industry from residential to commercial new construction, multi-unit rehabs and lease ups to assisting a commercial developer in new subdivision development. I left all of it behind in 2019 to work for a non-profit organization (CASA) to be guardian ad litem for children caught up in the system as a Volunteer Supervisor for Brazoria County. A erwards, I became a Licensed Chaplain with IFOC (International Fellowship of Chaplains) and now volunteer for hospice patients in the Bay Area. I currently work for the Brazoria County Boys and Girls Club as a Youth Development Coordinator serving children for four Alvin ISD Junior High Schools. Children and the elderly have become my passion for being a voice for them when they feel they don’t have their own and I have enjoyed representing them and their needs. Other highlights include Secretary of the Homeless Coalition of Brazoria County, Education and Advanced Training Officer for IFOC, and a Board Member of SCTD Weekend Committee.

My hobbies include: cooking (did I mention cooking?), camping, reading and great BBQ’s while raising a hallelujah on the karoake machine with family and friends!

Thank you for your considera on and know that I will be a voice for the community as it has been a Gift from God being able to speak on behalf of others and I will continue to do so…In Him
