The Role of a Sponsor

Sponsoring a candidate is an important part of the Tres Dias experience. A sponsor is someone who has previously attended a Tres Dias or other approved three-day Weekend and prayerfully encourages another Christian to consider attending.

Your role begins well before the Weekend. As a sponsor, you help your candidate understand what to expect, assist with the registration process, answer questions, and help make sure they are prepared for their Weekend. Your support continues after the Weekend as your candidate begins living their Fourth Day.

Who Can Be Sponsored?

Space City Tres Dias candidates must be adult Christians age 21 or older who desire to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Candidates may come from any Christian denomination or church background and do not need special Bible knowledge, ministry experience, or a particular role in their church.

For married couples, Space City Tres Dias requires the husband to attend a Men’s Weekend before his wife attends a Women’s Weekend.

Sponsors should prayerfully consider whether this is the right season for a prospective candidate to attend Tres Dias. The Weekend is intended to encourage and strengthen Christians in their walk with Christ, and thoughtful sponsorship helps ensure that each candidate is able to fully receive the experience.

Registration & Payment

Once your candidate is ready to attend, you can help them begin the registration process. The Candidate Registration Form may be completed by either the candidate or the sponsor.

Three steps must be completed before your candidate’s place on the Weekend roster is confirmed:

1. Candidate Registration Form
You or your candidate complete and submit the Candidate Registration Form.

2. Sponsor Confirmation Form
You complete a separate Sponsor Confirmation Form to confirm your sponsorship and provide the information needed for your candidate’s registration.

3. $25 Deposit
A minimum $25 deposit toward the Weekend fee must be received.

Once all three steps are complete, your candidate’s place on the Weekend roster will be confirmed. If the Weekend is already full, your candidate will be notified and placed on the waiting list.

Weekend Fee
The total Weekend fee is $210 and covers meals and lodging for the entire Weekend. A minimum $25 deposit is required to confirm the candidate’s place on the roster, and the remaining balance is due by the Friday before the Weekend.

Sponsors are welcome to pay all or part of their candidate’s Weekend fee, but payment by the sponsor is not required.

Payment Options

  • Church Center App — Space City Tres Dias community members may make a payment through Church Center under My Registrations.
  • Online Donation — Sponsors who do not use the Space City Church Center App may pay online using the Donate link on our website.
  • Check — Payments may also be mailed to SCTD PreWeekend using the address provided in the registration confirmation email.

Helping Your Candidate Prepare

As the Weekend approaches, help your candidate feel comfortable and prepared for what to expect. Make sure they know when to arrive, what to bring, and how family members can reach them in case of an emergency.

Candidates should also make sure that any food allergies, dietary restrictions, mobility needs, or other accommodations have been communicated in advance so the Weekend team can prepare for their arrival.

Detailed arrival information, packing instructions, and other practical information are available on the What to Expect page.

Thursday Arrival & Sunday Closing

Thursday Arrival
Sponsors should plan to arrive at camp with their candidate between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. This allows time to sign in, help your candidate get settled and unpacked, and enjoy fellowship with the Space City Tres Dias community. A light dinner is served in the courtyard during this time.

At 7:00 p.m., the Weekend officially begins with Send-Off. Following Send-Off, the candidates and Weekend team will leave to begin the Weekend, and sponsors will prepare to leave camp. The Spiritual Directors will offer Communion to sponsors before they depart.

Sunday Closing
Sponsors should return to camp Sunday afternoon for Closing, which begins at 5:00 p.m. Closing generally lasts about 90 minutes, and sponsors should plan to take their candidate home afterward. You can expect to leave camp at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Dinner is not served Sunday evening, so you and your candidate may want to plan to stop for a meal on the way home.
