Men’s Weekend #14

Rector: Bill Cook
March 11-14, 2027

Greetings, I am Bill Cook and I am so humbled and so very grateful to be serving our Lord and the Space City Tres Dias Community as Rector Cha for Men’s Weekend #14.  I was a candidate at Grace Gulf Coast Tres Dias Weekend #11 in the spring of 2019.  I served at Grace #12, then after covid forced us to miss some time, I began to serve in the Space City community for weekend #3 in the fall of 2021 and have served each weekend since then in the Space City Community.  I am a lifelong resident of Manvel, Texas. My dear Mother, Hallie Booth, lives with me and together we worship and serve with the believers at Manvel Bible Chapel.  Mother is also a member of the Space City Tres Dias community, having been a candidate at Weekend # 7 and most recently serving on Offsite Prayer.  I have two adult daughters residing in Ft Worth and both have careers in education.

The Lord has laid on my heart a portion that Paul wrote to the Philippians in Chapter 3:12-14 for this upcoming weekend.  What impresses me is that Paul says he wants to know Christ and the power of His resurrection, but has not yet obtained all that he wants to know, however “… forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead … I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.”  The two key phrases here that stick in my mind are “forgetting what is behind” and “press on”.  Probably the obvious thought of forgetting the past is focused on the negative things of the past that Satan often uses to plant doubt in our minds about our security in Christ.  God has shown me that we can also put too much emphasis on the “positive” successes of the past and maybe retain a false sense of accomplishment that prevents us from truly being used by God in His plan.  So, for the negative or positive things of the past, let’s put them aside and PRESS ON toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.

Please pray with me that all whom the Lord calls to serve on this weekend (March 11 – 14 2027) will be examples of leaving the past behind and moving forward to PRESS ON toward the goal of knowing Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings.

Our dear sister Misty Ruth is Rector Cha for the Women’s Weekend (March 18-21). Please pray for her together with the team that God has called to serve with her on that weekend. Continue in prayer for both the Men’s and Women’s Weekends that God will be Glorified in HIS weekends.

PRESS ON!
